Basically Beautiful Coffee Nepal (BeaCoN) supports implementation of ICS (Inter Control System) for organic certification, processing for producing high quality organic coffee in Sindhupalchok through the CCU (Coffee Cooperative Union). It consists of group training, capacity building, inspections and monitoring. BeaCoN published “ICS Operating Manual for Organic Certification of Coffee Produced by Smallholder Farmers in Nepal” (for managing) and “Organic Farmer’s Diary” (for producing) for organic certification. Every year the members of ICS are inspected which is done by CU (Control Union) and the farmers who pass this get the organic certification EFAPA (Environmental Friendly Agriculture Promotion Act). With this EFAPA, CCU can expert organic coffee to South Korea through Beautiful Coffee Korea, the Fair Trade organization. BeaCoN helps CCU- Sindhupalchok make this whole process successful for benefit of the members of the cooperatives through increased production and marketing of organic Fair Trade coffee.
